CVC words fun activities with picture cards for Reception and Year 1/PreK and K.
Learning intention: Blending/segmenting CVC words for reading and writing.

<strong>30 CVC Word Search Strips with pictures (6 pages)</strong>
There are 6 worksheets each containing 5 CVC word search strips.
The students look at the picture and then search for the word in the strip. When found, they colour or shade in the word.
You can cut the strips out and stick into students’ phonics book.
<strong>30 CVC Sentence Clue Strips (6 pages)</strong>
These worksheets are for the more able that can read and decode words.
The students read the sentence which gives a clue to the CVC word to look for in the mini word search strip. The strips contain two CVC words, but only one is correct.
For example: This animal barks.
He/She then looks for the word in the strip and colour or shade in the word.
You have the option of cutting out the strips and selecting those you feel are suitable for your students and sticking them into workbooks or the students can complete the worksheets.
<strong>Find and Write Carousel Activity</strong>
The students are up and moving in this activity. Once they have completed the task on table 1, they then move on to table 2 with a different selection of pictures with Table 2 Worksheet CVC List and so on to Table 6.
Each table contains a set of different pictures which relates to each worksheet with the same pictures. Children work in table groups.
When the children change tables, hand out the ‘Find and Write List’ for that table for children to write on.
You can set a time limit for working on each table.
The students look at the worksheet for, e.g. table 3. They will see six pictures. They find the pictures that match what is on their worksheet and write the CVC word for that picture.
<strong>Make sure they write their names on their worksheet before handing them in and going on to the next table activity with new words and pictures.</strong>
<strong>Other Suggested Uses</strong>
Extra group activity – Select some of the laminated pictures cards and ask the children to write the cvc words for those cards on their whiteboards.

<strong>• Activity 3</strong> – Use IT Paint Palette on computer to create a colorful picture or simply a rainbow. Extension: Ask the more able to type/write the colors they have used by copying the word cards.
</strong>• Activity 4 – Color sort.</strong> Children sort the buttons by color and glue them in the correct circles.
<strong>• Activity 5: Hands-on activity:</strong> Alternatively, put out a selection of real buttons for children sort into color groups onto the circles and they can say how they have grouped the buttons.
<strong>• Activity 6: Word cards (upper/lower case letters):</strong>
Lay out blank sugar paper or ordinary paper for children to glue on the color card word, either upper or lower case, and then colour inside the letters.
<strong>Prep:</strong> Cut out a selection of different color pictures for the children and get them to decide which color pictures they should stick around the name of the card color. See preview slide.

<strong>2D and 3D Jigsaw Puzzle Match</strong>
<strong>These are cut and paste activities. </strong>
Children cut out one piece of the puzzle with a picture of a shape and glue it onto their worksheets or in workbooks. They then read the correct description for that shape which is written on another piece of puzzle. They cut out and glue the correct description opposite the first jigsaw piece so that the jigsaw pieces fit together.

Spiders In the Web Worksheet - Children count the spiders and then draw two lines to match the number of the spiders on the web to the number and number word in the boxes.
For the last two worksheets, children cut out the numbers and number words and glue them next to the correct spider webs.

Print off and laminate the cards and pictures as many times as required: Use for Snap! matching picture game and matching words to pictures, children can even try sorting the words into alphabetical order.
There are four word searches to complete in lower and upper letters.
Vocabulary building game:
Play the PowerPoint slide to demonstrate to children how they can put together different letters from the word “Halloween” to make different words. There is also a worksheet for this activity. E.g. Children can make the words - hello, we, now etc.
Early finishers can try making different words from ‘pumpkin’ on their whiteboards.
You can organize different games station in your classroom - each table has a different games activity for students to enjoy.

A Thanksgiving mixed bag of differentiated math worksheets and practical activities ideal for math centers.
Content
Teacher notes (5 pages). You could set up math stations for students.
Optional lesson starter PowerPoint (0 to 20) – Whole class counting aloud backwards and forwards. You can assess students’ knowledge - which number comes after 7 or what numbers comes before 11 and practice one more/one less.
Picture Number Puzzle Strips x7 (color/b/w) – The strips range from 1 to 10, 11 to 20 and then counting by 2s to 20; counting by 2s using odd numbers, e.g. 1, 3, 5 etc and even numbers – 2, 4, 6 etc.
Numeral cards 0- 20 in words and figures for various activities such as matching numbers to number words; sorting odd and even numbers.
3 sets of Picture cards (pumpkin, pumpkin pie and ‘We are thankful’ cards) – to be used with a variety of activities with the numeral cards, as outlined in teacher notes. E.g. Group activity, you or a student can shuffle the cards 1 to 10 and place them face down on the table. Another student takes a card and then count out the picture cards to match the number.
Tens frames and turkey cards for various activities such as missing number in an equation.
Place for example 7 cards on the tens frame and then write:
7 + ____ = 10 The student will see 3 empty spaces on the tens frame.
Cut and stick activity - Counting up to 5.
Thanksgiving Counting worksheets (2 pgs) - Students count the pictures and write the number in the space provided.
Color and count worksheets (2 pgs)
Students read and count carefully how many of the pictures they need to color in.
Missing Numbers worksheets (7 pgs)
Students fill in the missing number above each turkey. Students are counting by 1s forward and backwards starting from any number.
Write the number before and after (2 pages) - Students trace inside the middle number and then write the number that comes before and after.
Trace over numbers and words up to 10
This resource comes in color and b/w. Students can practice forming their numerals and counting the pictures alongside the number.
